By the time Anterra finally tried her hand at songwriting in 2021, she had a lifetime of musical experience behind her and a lot to say. The songs practically poured out of her.

Beginning as a violinist and vocalist, Anterra had played in everything from the Swedish symphony to psychedelic chamber folk bands. But she always longed for a truer form of self-expression. After years spent adjacent to the music she wanted to make, she took a chance, and purchased a guitar.

A self-taught and distinctive guitarist, Anterra brought an exceptionally tuned ear and a playfully exploratory attitude to the instrument, that would shape her intricate and unique melodic compositions. She soon inherited her late mother’s 1931 Gibson L-00, which would become a lifelong songwriting companion.

Anterra’s vocal arrangements woven through her unique song structures are even more captivating. With an intense, vibrato-affected and evocative low end often compared to Florence & The Machine, paired with a soaring purity of extreme falsetto, Anterra’s range alone is attention-grabbing. But it is her thoughtful and truly unexpected melodic choices that play between these ranges that really captures listeners.

But it’s not only the power of her vocals that draw attention; Anterra offers a listeners a genuinely cathartic emotional experience through her songs. After a lifetime touched by grief, songwriting provided a long-needed outlet, and direct access to a medicine she could offer others. With a strong poetic voice and hard-won perspective, her largely channeled approach to lyricism crafts moving songs dealing with themes of self purpose and the difficulty of relating to others.

On her forthcoming debut record, Anterra partnered with Cale Hawkins [production] and Peter Stone [lead guitar] to bring the ethereal, dreamy and haunting soundscape of her vision to life. Expected summer of 2024.
